Shaw or Irony

The History:
In 1910, Egon Friedell delivered a provocative lecture titled “Shaw oder die Ironie” (Shaw or Irony), where he famously debated the merits of George Bernard Shaw, even suggesting he was “Besser als Shakespeare” (Better than Shakespeare). This poster serves as a visual time capsule of the intellectual fervor and daring art movements of early 20th-century Vienna.

The Aesthetic:
Characterized by sharp, jagged lines and a high-contrast palette of burnt orange and deep black, this piece perfectly encapsulates the tension and psychological depth of Austrian Expressionism.

It is an ideal statement piece for:
Home libraries or studies.
Fans of early 20th-century art history.
Collectors of vintage exhibition and lecture advertisements.
